StructureFy is a structural engineering firm founded in 2022 in Des Moines, IA by two structural engineers with over 30 years of combined experience. They have designed a wide range of structures, including multistory mixed-use buildings, park shelters, medical facilities, retaining walls, multifamily developments, tornado shelters, K-12 education buildings, and sheetpile cofferdams. They have also helped bridge contractors demolish existing bridges and put new ones in their place.

In each instance, StructureFy has found success by listening to clients, learning from the past, and leveraging their experience and education to create simple solutions to complex designs. Brant and Carl, the two founders of StructureFy, are passionate about using their skills to help clients achieve their visions. They believe that every project is unique, and they take the time to understand the specific needs of each client.

Brant Bristow, SE, PE

Brant started the firm in 2022 with his founding partner, Carl. Brant is licensed as a Structural Engineer and Professional Engineer in multiple states in the Midwest. Throughout his 19 years in the industry, he has worked on projects of all shapes and sizes where he found constructible solutions to project needs. His education at Iowa State University, combined with computer assisted analysis, have helped him to design commercial, mixed-use, educational, and multi-story residential projects in addition to renovation projects and aiding in failure analysis. Brant’s technical excellence and construction-conscious design leads to projects designed for structural integrity and constructability.

Brant enjoys giving back to the community in various ways. He’s been a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Iowa since 2004 including holding offices as president and treasurer, and has participated for approximately 10 years in the ACE Mentor Program of Central Iowa as a mentor, team leader, and board member.

Brant’s responsibilities on projects include being a principal in charge, project management, structural design management, structural design and analysis, writing and editing specifications, construction document management, and construction administration.

Founding Partner

Carl Stump, PE

Carl started the firm in 2022 with his founding partner, Brant. Carl is a licensed Professional Engineer in Iowa with 12 years of experience. His master’s degree from Iowa State University helped form the foundation he relies on for commercial, office, retail, medical, multi-story residential, and K-12 project designs.

Carl has been the president, vice president, and treasurer of the Structural Engineers Association of Iowa and has been a member of the program throughout his career. He’s also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Carl’s roles on projects include being a principal in charge, project management, project structural analysis and design, construction document preparation, project communication, and construction administration.

Engineer

Keegan Pullis, EIT

Keegan joined the firm in 2023 and brings with him 3 years of experience. He is scheduled to become a registered engineer at the end of the year. His education at Iowa State University has aided him in designing components in wood, steel, concrete, cold formed metal, and masonry for medical, commercial office, retail, and K-12 project designs.

Keegan was a walk-on football player at Iowa State University before engaging full time with his civil engineering degree. He’s also a current member of the Structural Engineers Association of Iowa and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Keegan’s roles on projects include project structural analysis and design, construction document preparation, project communication, and construction administration.
